Directions for Creating Your Brochure

Column #1 -The cover.

• The title and the author of the brochure (your name) should be displayed here. Use alliteration in your title to help persuade adventurers to visit your planet. For example; if you were writing about Earth you could type "Encounter Earth's Extreme Environments!" This could influence travelers to visit your planet!

Column #2

• This should include facts about your planet such as the diameter, distance from the sun, type of planet, length of year, length of day-something similar to a fact sheet.

Column #3

• This is a creative writing activity, telling travelers what they might see when they got there. Stick to the facts when you're describing its physical features, but use your imagination when describing recreational activities and travel and dress requirements.

Column #4

• Suppose a person weighed 100 pounds on earth. What would they weigh on your planet? Travelers will want to know! Use Arty the Part-time Astronaut to help you find out. Enter the program, click on "Activities" and then "Gravitron". Input 100 pounds. Then click on your planet to calculate the weight. Report this information here.

Column #5

• Include a weather report about your planet. Let travelers know what to expect when they get there. Keep to the facts, but use your imagination when describing what types of clothing they should bring with them as well as anything else they may need as they encounter the extreme environments on the planet.

Column #6

• Travelers will want to know the meaning of the planet's name. Include the meaning of your planets name here.

• Well, that's it! We want to catch the travelers' attention, so use a variety of word art, different font styles & colors, and don't forget to add graphics on each panel. Save all your notes and hand them in to Mission Control when you get back home.
