Term Project

This technology term project has two parts.

The first part is the learning object, this page.  It is to assist students in learning basic historical computer and editorial research skills in assembling and building an on-line computer data and information base (a web quest).   Students will be required to submit a minimum number of entries to the base, which will be assessed and counted as a portion (the technology portion) of their grade.   Extra entries, above the minimum, can be submitted for extra credit.   Also, as this database will need a good deal of editing and update, several students, on a first come first serve basis, will be selected by me as editors, for even more credit.

Details will be worked out class by class.

The beauty of this idea is that other teachers (and their classes) can participate and contribute to this project.  Of course those other teachers can include it in the assessment of their classes.

The second part is the database (web quest), Black-White Relations 1865-1915,    (from the end of the American Civil War to World War I).  This is an important topic and one, which is not generally considered before college level history.  It is essential to understanding the Civil Rights Movement of the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s.  Furthermore besides being a feather in the cap for the school it should aid outside researchers on this critical subject
