SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

 

 My experience is twofold.  Prior to November 1996 I was in the electronics and electrical equipment industry.   I was involved in a wide range of sales and marketing related related to that.   The products I sold ranged from highly technical products.  From my experience in that, I possess significant day to day operating experience in running a small business, as well as people management skills, derived from my business experience and from non-work related community group involvement.

 

After that, not being satisfied intellectually or emotionally with my career choice I decided to enter teaching. 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

 

September 2002- Present

 

Passaic Board of Education, Passiac, NJ.   Long term Substitute teacher-- I have had three or four long term sub assignments teaching social studies/history in Passaic High School.  This entails filing lesson plans, writing and grading tests, and giving and grading classroom/homework assignments.  It also entails managing a classroom in a inner city setting.  

 

December 1996- June 2004

 

Passaic Board of Education, Passiac, NJ,  Hackensack Board of Education, Hackensack, NJ, Palisades Park Board of

Educational Palisades Park, NJ.   Substitute teacher-- I have substituted in about a dozen schools, mostly at the high school or intermediate school levels, in a wide variety of setting-- from inner city to affluent suburb.  My assignments have lasted from one day to two weeks.  I have gained much practical experience in classroom management.

 

October 1994 - October 1996

 

Lighting Components and Design, Deerfield Beach, FL.  Eastern regional sales -- The company manufactures lighting components and assemblies for industry.   I was a commissioned sales rep, handling  accounts in NY, NJ, PA and CT.

 

February 1985 -- June 1994

 

Leecraft Manufacturing, Long Island City, NY. Regional sales manager -- The company manufactured lighting products for the automotive, appliance and electronic industries.   Area of responsibility was the coordination of independent sales reps, internal sales people and customer service personnel.   I was also involved in new product development, catalog and product literature releases and marketing.

 

December 1981 -- January 1985

 

Cooper Associates, Englewood, NJ. Managing partner -- I was in business as a small electronic manufacturer's representative firm in the NYC metropolitan area.  Main area of sales expertise was high voltage and high frequency components.

 

May 1977 - December 1981

 

Megavolt Corporation, Deer Park, NY.  National sales manager -- The company was a specialty high voltage power supply house.  Starting as a technician, I worked my way up to the head of the sales department.

I hold a NJ real estate license and I am computer literate.  I also have a certificate of eligibility from NJ to teach social studies/history a the high school and middle school level.
