Jaishri Menon (Associate Professor) earned her B.Sc.and M.Sc. in Zoology, and Ph.D. in Physiology from The University of Baroda, India. Her postdoctoral research was at California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco, and San Francisco State University, San Francisco, CA. She teaches General Biology, Histology, Physiology of Reproduction & Fertility, Endocrinology, Transmission Electron Microscopy and various Anatomy and Physiology courses.

Current projects in Dr. Menon's laboratory are focused on (1) oxidative stress during anuran metamorphosis, and (2) role of peroxisomal enzymes and peroxisome proliferators activated receptors (PPARs) in intestine remodeling of tadpoles. In her lab, a variety of techniques such as RT-PCR, microscopic (light, fluorescence and transmission electron microscopy), high Performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and biochemical analysis are used. Undergraduate students working with her have received awards for best oral and poster presentations at the undergraduate research symposia organized annually by University of Maryland, Baltimore county.

Dr. Menon is a member of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology, and American Society for Electron Microscopy.
