Dr. Martorella is a Full Professor of Sociology at William Paterson University
and a past Princeton University Fellow (1989). She is the author of several
books including Art & Business, Performers and Performances, and Corporate
Art. Her books discuss how patrons and society influence changes in artistic
styles. She has lectured throughout Europe and Asia.
Dr. Martorella is currently investigating the nature of
outdoor sculptures, and public art in New York City revealing how sculptures
symbolize cultural values and heritage.
Professor Martorella has had an active academic career
for
over twenty years, and is passionate about her students and work. She
is Coordinator of the Honor Society, and administers the Internship Program
for the Department of Sociology. Interns are offered a variety of fieldwork
experiences in human resource departments of business, community and social
service agencies, and include Internships in Wasington, D.C.
She enjoys traveling with her husband, Louis Martorella,
MD. They enjoy music, visiting museums, and making new friends. They have
two children, Andrew and Bianca; Andrew is married to Arianna Farinelli
of Rome, Italy. They reside in Upper Nyack, New York.
