SPRING 2004 VALIDATION TESTING

Validation testing is done before the start of the Spring 2004 semester on January 6, 2004 for students taking the course for the first time. All new students will take the William Paterson University Placement Test on January 6, 2004. The score obtained on the test will determine if a student will be allowed to exit the class. Students can only take the validation test on January 6, 2004. Anyone who is not in attendance on that day of testing cannot take the test. There are no make-ups for validation testing

After you complete the validation testing on January 6, 2004, the Office of Testing will notify you as to whether or not you passed. If you passed, your schedule for the Spring 2004 semester will be adjusted at that time.

SPRING 2004 PROGRAM ADJUSTMENT

Program adjustment is no longer available on the first scheduled class meeting of the semester. The times for making schedule changes are after Validation Testing on January 6, 2004 and before January 20, 2004, the first day of the Spring 2004 semester.

EARLY ALERT/ JEOPARDY OF FAILING

Early Alert Letters will be sent to any student in jeopardy of failing their Basic Skills Reading course. This letter is sent early in the semester to inform the student of his/her progress so that he/she can work towards successfully meeting the course requirements.

FINAL EXAMINATION

The *final examination is given during the week of May 3-May 8, 2004 according to the specific course scheduled time. See “Spring 2004 Course Offerings” to find out the specific time for your course’s final exam. It should also be written on your course syllabus.

*Any student who misses more than three (3) classes will not be permitted to take the final examination unless a doctor’s note is provided to explain absences.

BASIC SKILLS READING ATTENDANCE POLICY

Class attendance and participation are important parts of this course. A maximum of three absences will be excused. If you have more than three absences you must submit a doctor's note or some other documentation explaining your absences, otherwise you will be unable to take the test at the end of the semester and will receive a failing grade for the course. No exceptions will be made! Furthermore, students are expected to be on time and to remain for the entire class meeting.
