- Wilson Biographies Plus Illustrated [database]
- Contains more than 95,000 biographies and obituaries. Many of the biographies are enhanced with full text, abstracts, and citations from H. W. Wilson databases. The biographies are searchable by name, profession, title, place of origin, gender, race/ethnicity, titles of works, date of birth, date of death, keyword, and presence of images. Covers both living and dead individuals. Some of the biographical essays are quite substantial, although many are brief. This resource is best used with other sources.

- Somewhat idiosyncratic but useful online atlas and statistical compendium created and maintained by Matthew White, who claims to make his living as a librarian. In addition to his own maps, White maintains a very helpful link directory to other maps covering a wide variety of topics.

- Map Library, U.S. Military Academy
- This online collection of military maps contains a series of campaign maps from atlases developed by the USMA's Department of History. Included are several maps from World War I and World War II dealing with the European fronts.

- H-German Discussion Network
- H-German is a daily Internet discussion forum focused on scholarly topics in German history. There are no chronological limits. The primary purpose for H-German is to enable scholars in history and related disciplines to easily communicate current research and research interests; to discuss new articles, books, papers, approaches, methods and tools of analysis; to test new ideas and share comments and tips on teaching. Among the most valuable parts of H-German for students is its archive of reviews and its carefully selected lists of online resources in German history.

- Declassified CIA documents from 1989-1991 incorporate a 1999 study of the dazzling period from 1989-1991 which signaled the end of the Cold War. - Cold War International History Project
- The Project supports the full and prompt release of historical materials by governments on all sides of the Cold War, and seeks to accelerate the process of integrating new sources, materials and perspectives from the former "Communist bloc" with the historiography of the Cold War which has been written over the past few decades largely by Western scholars reliant on Western archival sources. - League of Nations: Statistical and Disarmament Documents
- Established by the Allied Powers at the conclusion of World War I, the mission of the League of Nations was "to promote international cooperation and to achieve international peace and security." After its inability to prevent military aggression in Manchuria, Ethiopia, and Austria, the League ceased its activities, and was replaced by the United Nations in 1946. Several departments within the Northwestern University Library system worked together to create this fine digitized collection of 260 League of Nations documents, which are organized around three areas: the founding of the League, international statistics published by the League (also available in French), and the League's work toward international disarmament. Users of the archive can search by date, title, or keyword. The site is rounded out with a good selection of related links, including other online collections of related documents at other institutions, such as the Library of the United Nations Office and the Avalon Project at Yale. - Third Reich and World War II (Virtual Library Geschichte, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg)
- Part of Virtual Library History Network (based at the University of Kansas), this site contains an overview of selected on-line resources. The main point of view for selection and critical commentary of links is the quality of contents and scientific character for historical employment. The contents of the catalogue are most concentrated on resources in German-languages countries, but the section Holocaust contains international resources too. Although the main page is in English, most of the material in the directory is in German.
