Call for Breakout Proposals - DEADLINE EXTENDED

The Planning Committee for the VALE Users’ / NJLA CUS - NJ ACRL Conference seeks proposals for Breakout sessions to be presented at the next conference, Friday, January 9, 2009, at the Busch Campus Center of Rutgers University. 

The conference theme is “Ten Years of Experience, A Future of Possibilities.  The Planning Committee encourages proposals highlighting initiatives for the practice of academic librarianship informed by lessons learned from past experience, research, or the input of your user communities. Proposals that emphasize and illustrate meaningful continuities or contrasts between past and present/future practice are particularly encouraged.

 

Proposal requirements:

  1. Your name, title, and complete contact information.
  2. A 1-2 sentence abstract describing the presentation (to be printed in the conference program).
  3. A 1 to 2 page précis; font - 12 point Times Roman; double-spaced (a more detailed description of your session).
  4. A statement of your equipment requirements other than Internet

connection, digital projector and screen, which will be in all rooms:

     e.  If possible, please also submit the name of a colleague who can serve as a

          recorder for your session.

Preferred: The committee will prefer proposals that both address the theme and promote sharing of experiences and concerns among attendees at the session.   

 

To submit a proposal:

Completed proposals are due no later than October 8, 2008. Proposals submitted before this deadline are most welcome. Decisions regarding the proposals will be announced by November 1, 2008. Please email complete Breakout proposals (using one of the following formats: “.doc,” “.txt,” or “.rtf”) to the Planning Committee c/o Denise Brush, Rowan University Libraries (email: brush@rowan.edu / tel: 856-256-4977).

Although not required as part of the proposal, any slides, handouts, or other notes used in your presentation should be submitted to Denise for posting on the conference website before the conference.

Δ Sessions will be 50 minutes long.

Δ Meeting rooms at the Busch Center lend themselves to panel discussions, as well as single speaker presentations.

                            

Δ We will advise you in advance the number of registrants for your session, the time slot and room number.
