PROCEDURE FOR ADVISEMENT

1. REVIEW.  Look up and print  out the most recent version of your degree audit. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR DEGREE IN GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FORM-- the one that groups your degree audit by requirement (e.g., psychology courses, math &science)  You will know if you have the correct audit of the classes you are taking now are marked with a *. Review your audit  for errors. Click here if you do not know how to get your degree audit in general requirements form. 

2. PLAN  generate a list of courses (5-7) you are planning to take for the upcoming semester (summer are good to outline at for fall registration too). Make sure that you include a re-take  all Fs (and all Ds in Psychology)

3. PREPARE.  get a copy of the psychology student handbook and review -- the curriculum control sheet is most important for GE courses and psychology requirements. A version of it can be found here http://euphrates.wpunj.edu/faculty/hainese/advisement/ACADEMIC_PLANNING_GUIDE.pdf

4. READ read the frequently asked questions at FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS . READ the current version of the Psychology Student Handbook http://euphrates.wpunj.edu/faculty/hainese/advisement/handbook09_10.pdf

5. VISIT come to my office at one of the times above (my office is 246 science hall). YOU DO NOT NEED AN APPOINTMENT (first come, first served) 

YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR EMAIL ADVISEMENT IF 

1) I have seen you before (I know who you are!)

2) you have a 2.5 or higher GPA

3) however, you do not have to do advisement by email if you do not want to

To be advised by email, compose an email message with the following information. Please note that if I see problems with your academic standing, I will need to see you personally. If you do not have the following information, the email will get sent back to you and you be delayed in receiving advisement. Please allow 3-4 days to process request (depending on the volume of email). 

    1.  your name and 855 number in the subject line

    2.  attach your degree audit (paste in or send as a pdf) 

    2. identify number of completed credits (when you are  completed with this semester)

    3. provide GPA

    4. provide your approximate date of graduation

    4. provide a list of courses you are planning on taking in the next semesters  (identify and courses that are for the winter  or summer terms, too). 

    5. Tell me if you have any Ds or Fs in any courses and what courses these courses are 

    7. write a brief description of how you are doing this semester including current classes and status. I like you know what is going on!  

   8. write  Description of what you would like to do after you graduate

TO GET YOUR DEGREE AUDIT

1. Go to WPConnect, 
2. go to Enrolled Students,
3. scroll down to Student Records and click on Degree Audit/Degree Evaluation
4. go to Student Services & Financial Aid
5. from there you can click on either your Academic Transcript or your Degree Evaluation
6. With Degree Evaluation you click on the next semester (fall  2009) 
7. Click on Generate a New Evaluation
8. Click on the program
9. select the term again (fall  2009)
10. Click on Generate request
11. click on GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (and click  the submit key)

PLEASE NOTE:  YOUR DEGREE AUDIT SHOULD SAY GENERAL REQUIREMENTS AT THE TOP AND THE CLASSES YOU ARE TAKING THIS SEMESTER  WILL BE MARKED WITH AN * asterisk
