   Introduction

 

Due to the short supply of dinosaur books, you have been hired by Scholastic Books to write and illustrate a book about a dinosaur.  These books will be available and sold through the Lucky Book Club.  There is a chart you will fill in with information you find through the Internet, books and other resources.  Then you will use the pictures and information from your research and facts from your completed chart to create book and present it to the class.  You will be evaluating your work through with the same rubric scale that your teacher will evaluate your work with.

 

 

The Task    

 

You will complete a chart with information on a dinosaur of your choice, using resources both online and offline.

 

Using the completed chart you will create a book that your teacher will provide

You will make a presentation of your book to the class.

Process

    

1.     Choose a dinosaur from this drop down menu.        

2.     Print the Graph that is linked to this site.

3.     Research the information needed to fill in the graph and record your findings in the proper place on your graph.

4.     Use the online resource links to locate and print a picture of your dinosaur.

5.     Get your blank book from your teacher.

6.     Write and illustrate your book using the information from your research.

7.     Print the rubric scale that is linked to this site.

8.     Evaluate your project/presentation using the printed rubric scale.

Conclusion

 

By now you have completed the task you were hired to do. The Lucky Book Club is very thankful for all your assistance. They will now have a full supply of illustrated dinosaur books. Books can be used in all areas of the curriculum.  They work well as class, group, or individual projects.  The books’ degree of difficulty can be adapted to meet the needs of your class.  There are several different types of books children can create, write, and illustrate:
