Above is a gif that is placedinto a layer. A layer is an element of a Cascading Style Sheet. Insert a layer and thenyouwill also see and CSS icon placed inthe document. if you click this Icon, the code window will go to the code for the CSS code. It will say somethng to the effect of "div id="Layer1" style="position:absolute; width:96px..."

The following link will take you to a duplicate of this page, where I move the Layer over the copy! annoying GIF move!

This layer is placed into a "timeline." In a "timeline," you can do a bit of "animation." you can position the Layer or object and set a keyframe for position. In this case, i created a layer, and then placed the .GIF image in the layer. Then I adde the layer to the timeline. The timeline defaults to placing the object in with atime length of 15 frame. if you go select the last keyframe and then then move the object. This will make theboject move over the time that is specified. you can then later the alter the time by dragging the keyframe in the timeline

There are alot of interactive and complex things that can be done in the timeline. you can insert buttons, behavoirs, and all kinds of other stuff!

My suggestion is that you consider in a very serious manner whether these things are usefule to carry forward your designa nd communication. In many cases moving something simply distracts the viewer from the primary communication. Go to http://www.ss.pku.edu.cn. this is the school website for the school here in Beijing. if you coul sread Chinese, i am sure the moving .GIF will cause you some difficulty oin reading the page. Hotmail use one of these as well. i find it annoying

WARNING: I do not recommend putting too many animated GIFS on a single page, especially if the size of the files is large. the biohazardman is 31k. This is the largest of the four. you should be judicious in your use of the animated gif. Try to remember that you viewer has little patience and will not wait if thepage does not load.
