Constitution of Math Club of William Paterson University

Name
The name of the club shall be known as the
following: Math Club of William Paterson University. |
|
Article II: |
|
| |
Purpose
The purpose of the Math Club will be to
promote further education and interest in the Mathematical Sciences through field trips to various research centers,
lectures, exhibits, and speakers and to promote student interests in
the Mathematical fields. |
| Article III: |
Membership
Section A: General Membership
Membership into the
Math Club is open to all members of William Paterson University
Student Government Association.Section B: Voting
Members
- To vote at a meeting, individuals must place
their name on the Math Club
roster at, or prior to, the last club meeting.
- The roster of
voting
members must be maintained by the
Math Club secretary or
appropriate officer.

Article IV: |

Officers
The Math Club shall
consist of a president, vice-president, secretary, and
treasurer.
Duties of Officers
President: The
president will call and conduct meetings as well as co-ordinate
and oversee work of committees. The president will
attend or send a designee to all Club Presidents meetings.
Vice-president:
Will act in the absence of the President.
Secretary: Will take and keep minutes, distributing
them to the members at the
beginning of the next meeting and supervise correspondence.
Treasurer: Will be responsible for financial affairs
of the Math Club, within the
accordance of the laws of and
approval thereof by the S.G.A. |

Advisor
There will be a
faculty advisor elected by the Math Club. The advisor shall be a
full-time member of the faculty or a full-time professional employee
of William Paterson College.

Removal of Officers
Any officer or
advisor can be removed by a two-thirds majority vote of the voting membership of the club at
two consecutive meetings. All
removals shall be reviewed by the S.G.A.C.J.B. |
| Article VII: |

Meetings
The Math Club will
meet at least twice a semester and more when necessary. A
copy of the approved minutes will be on file in the S.G.A. office. A
quorum will consist of at least 50% plus one voting members and at least
two officers. The Secretary shall be responsible for notifying club
members about future meetings. |

Activities
Educational field trips will be planned for the purpose of promoting
interest and understanding of the Mathematical Sciences and to visit
graduate schools of Mathematics |
| Article IX: |

Section A: Elections
Nominations of officers and advisor for the
following year will take place at the
first meeting in April. Nominations shall be opened at a well publicized regularly scheduled meeting and be opened for
at least three successive days. A list of candidates will be
filed with the S.G.A. Constitutional
Judicial Board. The persons elected will take office as of July 1 of
that year. Elections will be held at the next scheduled meeting.
To nominate a candidate for officer one member of the club (other than the nominee) must state that
he/she nominates the candidate with his/her acceptance. The length of the term shall be one year July through June. Elections will be
held prior to April 1 and will be by closed ballot. The
counting will be done by two members of the club, who are not candidates, appointed by the advisor. Write-in candidates are
allowed. The advisor will be
elected in the same manner. The majority rules. If in the event of a. tie, a run-off
election will be held within one week after the first elections
between the highest vote getters.
Section B: Special
Elections
In the event of one
office being vacated, the president shall call for a special meeting to
nominate and elect person(s) for the
vacated office(s). Such proceedings will be conducted as above.
Section C:
Resignations
Resignations of officers must be in writing.
All resignations will be accepted. |
| Amendments:

Any member of the Math
Club may sponsor an amendment to the Constitution. The
amendment must be approved by the club's voting membership by a
two-thirds majority vote at a scheduled meeting. The proposed amendment
shall then be brought to the S.G.A.
Constitutional Judicial Board and receive a two-thirds majority
vote from the S.G.A. Legislature.
All members shall be informed of the amendments by the Secretary at
least seven days previous to the meeting. |

All financial records are subject to
examination upon request of the S.G.A. Co-treasurers.
