Editing course shell appearance on the WPUNJ Tab

All of the course sections you’re teaching will appear on your Bb WPUNJ Tab whether you are using them or not. After a few years this can become both cumbersome and inefficient.  While we can hide courses from students, we cannot do the same for faculty, so to keep your course list tidy you can use the Modify tool.
Get online and access Bb so that you're seeing your WPUNJ Tab.

On the top right-hand side of your welcome page, where your "My Courses" box appears, locate and click on the "Modify the Module: My Courses" icon, which looks like a star, as illustrated to the right.

You may unselect the left-most input box in order to remove the course from your WPUNJ Tab. That action does not remove the course from the system, and can be reversed at any time. Note that you may choose to display the names of the instructors as well as the active announcements, tasks, and events.

Life cycle of a student course shell

In a new policy beginning in the Fall semester of 2009 students will be added to course shells two weeks prior to the beginning of the semester.  However, course shells will not be available for student use until the first day of the semester.  Faculty will not be able to activate a course during this period.

Beginning the first day of the semester faculty will have to activate courses for students to be able to participate in, or even see, course material.  See above for instructions.

Please note that database changes are not registered immediately. A student who adds a course the course on Monday will not see it on his/her WPUNJ Tab until mid-Tuesday morning.

When a student withdraws from a course s/he will disappear from your course shell.  Unfortunately, sometimes students are withdrawn from shells without warning.  Once a semester the office of the Registrar disenrolls students who have outstanding financial obligations.  When this happens the student will not have access to Blackboard until the financial issue is resolved.  Unfortunately the student will have to wait until the morning following resolution to see his/her course shell restored.
